Welcome! My name is Brigitt…I’m a 24-year-old writer living in the heart of NYC.

I’m from the tri-state area but, after spending my undergrad years in Maryland, it took me  awhile to move back to the place I refer to as home. After college, I studied journalism and  received my masters degree from a university in Chicago. To culminate my graduate  studies, I moved to London to work as a feature writer for a prominent news agency. I  finally came back to NYC in April 2011 to accept a position at a women’s magazine.

I’ve always had an interest in food. In fact family members have commented time and time again on my love for all things culinary, but I never seriously considered pursuing a career in the restaurant industry. I simply love writing too much, and I think that is my true calling. But, after working with editors in a variety of areas, I’ve realized that my infatuation with food pairs nicely with my love for my job. It didn’t take much time to realize that I’d ultimately like to work in the food department here at the magazine. To gain some additional knowledge (and hopefully make my goal a reality!), I enrolled in the nine-month professional culinary arts program at the French Culinary Institute.

My schedule is extremely busy because I’m a full-time employee at the magazine and I go to school three nights a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights), but I am so happy with my decision. I feel lucky to love both work and school, yet still have time to enjoy all the city has to offer with my friends and family.

On this blog I’ll share some of my own recipes, adapted recipes, and some recipes from school. I’m new to blogging, but I hope that you’ll follow along.
